Backup Scheduling

You can configure backup schedules using strategies.

KeyParameterControl
Configuration.Schedulebackup \[set < set <>] every < day <>\{,< otherDay <>\} at < time <> for < duration <> \[limit bandwidth < size <>]Backup scheduling

The parameters have the following roles and values:

  • \[set < set <> :]: optional parameter. If not specified, CDP preferences apply to all selections.
  • day and otherDay: days of the week when the backup runs. In English, abbreviated:
    • mon: Monday
    • tue: Tuesday
    • wed: Wednesday
    • thu: Thursday
    • fri: Friday
    • sat: Saturday
    • sun: Sunday
  • time: backup start time. 24-hour format (for example: 1, 12:45, 8:15, 23, etc.)
  • duration: maximum backup duration. 24-hour format (for example: 2, 6:30, 12, etc.)
  • size: bandwidth limit for this schedule, expressed in bytes per second. You can specify the speed in kilobytes per second by adding "k" after the value.

Delayed Trigger

Starting from version 8.1 of Arx One Backup, scheduled backups can be triggered with a random delay. By default, the maximum delay is 15 minutes. This delay can be modified by strategy as follows:

KeyParameterControl
Configuration.BackupRandomDelay< delay <>Sets the maximum delay
  • delay: maximum trigger delay, expressed in minutes.

Example

You want to back up from Monday to Friday from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM with a bandwidth limit of 50 KB/s. Then, you want to back up on Friday evening from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM, with no bandwidth limit.

Resulting strategy:

    Configuration.Schedule: backup every mon,tue,wed,thu,fri at 12:30 for 1 limit bandwidth 50 k
Configuration.Schedule: backup every fri at 20:00 for 12
