Strategies

Aboutโ€‹

Strategies are a way to centrally and elegantly manage backups across your entire machine fleet.

They allow you to automate backup configuration (fully or partially) and manage access to the interface.

Some essential rules must be understood to use strategies effectively:

  • A backup account can only have one strategy applied at a time
  • A modified strategy is automatically injected into the accounts using it, with a variable delay of one to two hours
  • A strategy can only be applied to a backup account by one of its parent accounts
  • A strategy applied to an account is also applied to its descendant accounts
  • It is possible to apply one strategy to a parent account and another to its descendant accounts. In case of conflicting parameters, the higher-level strategy (the parent accountโ€™s strategy) takes precedence

Each strategy consists of a configuration used to set up the user machines associated with it. These configurations work using a system of keys and values.

To learn how to create, edit, or apply a strategy, refer to the administration help in the management console.

The agent configuration file uses the same format as strategies. You can therefore configure an initial account graphically (using the console) and use its configuration file to create your strategy.
