Change the Installed Backup Account
Warning! The account name encoding is specific to the configuration file: you must replace the
>character with-and the-character with--(double dash).
For example, the accountrevendeur>client>poste-1becomesrevendeur-client-poste--1.
Please keep this in mind while following the procedure below.
On Windows
1. Stop the service
Stop the "Arx One Backup" service via the system services console (services.msc from the Start menu).
2. Edit preferences
Edit the file C:\ProgramData\ArxOne\Backup\BackupAgent.conf. Replace the installed account name with the one you want to use in the line starting with the keyword Account: .
Rename the keyword ProtectedPassword: to Password: and enter the target account password in plain text. When the service restarts, the password will be encrypted again.
3. Restart the service
Start the "Arx One Backup" service via the system services console (services.msc from the Start menu).
On Linux
1. Stop the service
In a terminal, type: service arxone-backup stop
2. Edit preferences
Edit the file /usr/local/etc/arx.one/backup/backupagent.conf. Replace the installed account name with the one you want to use in the line starting with the keyword Account: .
Rename the keyword ProtectedPassword: to Password: and enter the target account password in plain text. When the service restarts, the password will be encrypted again.
3. Restart the service
In a terminal, type: service arxone-backup start
On Synology DSM
1. Stop the service
In the NAS Package Center, go to installed packages and stop Arx One Backup.
2. Edit preferences
Enable the SSH service from the NAS Control Panel (Terminal & SNMP section).
Using an SSH client, edit the file /usr/local/etc/arx.one/backup/backupagent.conf. Replace the installed account name with the one you want to use in the line starting with the keyword Account: .
Rename the keyword ProtectedPassword: to Password: and enter the target account password in plain text. When the service restarts, the password will be encrypted again.
Remember to disable SSH if it is no longer needed after modifying the configuration files.
3. Restart the service
Start the "Arx One Backup" service via the NAS Package Center.
