File Error
Meaning
One or more files encountered errors. Errors can be of various types:
- Insufficient permissions
- Input/output error
- Sharing violation
Resolution
Error resolution depends on the nature of the issue:
- Insufficient permissions: check that the account running the backup agent (
systemon Windows) has full control over the data. - Input/output error: check the condition of the source disk and replace it as soon as possible if necessary.
- Sharing violation: there are several possible causes for a sharing violation:
- There is a snapshot error on the system and the data is currently in use. You must fix the snapshot issue to remove the error.
- The file is excluded from the snapshot. Some files (such as OST files) or locations (for example in AppData) may be excluded from the snapshot. The only way to back up this data is to ensure it is not in use at the time of backup.
- The data is being read from a network share and is already in use by another process. Make sure the data is not being used at the time of backup.
